It looks sweet, just what I expected.
Although my computers specs are below the recommended, am going to get it for pc, as I don't have anything else. This made me install BF2 back. -------------------- Czade - death knight

I might be getting it for PC. Unsure as it depends what platform the rest of my friends get it on, so I expect I'll get it on 360.

My hubby was in beta for the PC version, he said the game is not that great. He's a weapon freak, and when he saw .9 caliber does more damage than a .45, he started yelling at devs and labeled the game al bullshit.
For what I saw, the maps are really small.. and the gameplay too repetitive. there are too many vehicles and at sme point it's just KABOMM SBADLAMM TUM TUM TUM BOOM SQUARADASH and you can't move because 3 helicopter, 4 jets, 6 jeeps are making the world explode. -------------------- ليكستور

I've been playing the Beta, it's pretty cool. Starting weapons (especially for assault) are shitter than usual for a battlefield game, but once you level a bit there are some nice unlocks.
I love the destructable buildings, though it'd be nice if they diddn't make the objectives destroyable (atm you can just blow them up with C4/mortars or a tank rather than arming them manually) The Rush game mode is pretty good overall though. -------------------- ▲ ▲ ▲ There, the crevasse, Fill it with your mighty juice. |

My hubby was in beta for the PC version, he said the game is not that great. He's a weapon freak, and when he saw .9 caliber does more damage than a .45, he started yelling at devs and labeled the game al bullshit. I could perfectly live with that, as long as the game is fun. Actually, it makes the game more attractive to me that it does not attempt to be realistic at all costs. I prefer gameplay to realism, in fact, I do not like realism at all - which is why my favorite shooter ATM is TF2 I guess. How's the jet maneuvering? Similar to those in BF2, or more similar to the helicopter-like thingies in BF2142? If the former, how does that work with the small-ish maps you mention, doesn't flying them end up constantly running you into map borders (as I remember from BF2)? And with those dozens of vehicles, how many players are on a map at the same time? The repetitive gameplay, won't that be alleviated with more maps come release? Or are all the official maps the game starts with available in the beta already? If BF2142 is anything to go by, there will probably be infantry-only maps as well, and the vehicle ones will vary in terms of vehicle density - or am I mistaken and this game is different altogether? Also, generally, I pretty much ignored the first BF:BC due to its single player focus. BF:BC2 will be mostly a multiplayer game again then, back-to-the-roots style? Or did I misinterpret EA's signals on the first one and it was not actually focused on single player? So many questions, I was positively surprised by the footage linked here - I had ignored BF:BC2 until now, thinking it'd be a single player "war hero" thing again, only threatening to make me sick with glorification of murder (like CoD's single player, despite the cursory moral dilemma allegations). If it's a proper slugfest again this looks really interesting. Edit: Well, I just realized there's a lengthy-ish single player part as well, but if the beta is multiplayer only that does speak for the title for me. Im getting on 360 anyhow but can you sum up wots wrong with consolve version? 1) Controller instead of keyboard/mouse 2) Better graphics on the PC (unless your computer sucks, because the XBox meanwhile is 5 years old and as powerful as a regular PC was 4 years ago), DX11 soft shadows, illumination realism, higher resolutions 3) Controller instead of keyboard/mouse 4) Integrated friends system, only on the PC 5) Server browser, only on the PC 6) Auto-updates, only on the PC 7) Full weapons loadout screen, quick point-and-click equipment, only on the PC 8) Easier squad selection and joining and management through point-and-click interface, only on the PC 9) Controller instead of keyboard/mouse 10) Unlocked framerate, only on the PC 11) Field of view setting can be changed as the PC user sees fit (locked on console) 12) Native support for 4:3 and 16:9 resolutions, multiple screens - I guess the console is about as flexible here though, apart from the resolutions thing, and the multiscreen thing 13) PC supports 32 players, console only 24 14) Tighter weapon handling, more direct control (on top of the issue that you can't use mouse / keyboard on the console, as you might know) 15) Controller instead of keyboard/mouse Did I mention that the controls suck, because you can't use keyboard and mouse on a console and are stuck with that crappy squishy analog stick BS? We're after half of the current console cycle, which is where the raw power advantage of the PC starts to be so obvious it can't be ignored. This will only get worse towards the end of the current-gen console's life cycle. Yes, I am yet again saying that consoles suck. They need less configuration, they need less maintenance, and they cost less. That's about everything they have going for them. I am very glad that EA/Dice do everything they can in order to unlock and use this PC power advantage, completely unlike Epic/Midway (edit, wrong company) did with UT3. Edit: I nearly forgot. On a console, the controls suck. (And yes, before you mention it, I also suck at using controllers This post has been edited by haslo: Feb 26 2010, 08:16 PM -------------------- |

Better graphics... if you have an up-to-date ace pc. 24 noob players on console are enough. More than enough. Rest are things i dont even know what are they for so im good for pewpew. P.S: 5) Server browser, only on the PC (So you have to actually buy le game? HARHAR! )-------------------- "Arathors gambling, cursing, banhammer'ed, pig-hating High Warlord legend. Beep Beep!"

Keyboard/mouse is important in games like wow where you actually have to type /spit and stuff... not in console shooters. I wholeheartedly disagree. The mouse is both a lot faster and a lot more precise for aiming and turning. That is a fact. No way a controller allows you to turn 180° and actually hit stuff behind you in a split second - both because it has an arbitrary maximum turn speed, and because you will just miss the target anyway due to the wobbly nature of the controls. Keyboard or analog stick for movement indeed doesn't matter as much. Edit: Yes, you sometimes hit stuff anyway. That's because the people who build console shooters know about the sucky nature of controllers, and add stuff like auto-aiming and the likes. That doesn't make the controls any better, only their flaws more obvious. Shadowrun, being cross-platform and having users with both mouse and controller, gave auto-aim and more health to console users to make up for that. And UT3's console version, which does theoretically allow keyboard/mouse controls, has servers decide whether to allow keyboard/mouse or not - technically, whether controller users stand a chance (because everybody's controls suck) or not (becuase controller users are destroyed by keyboard/mouse users). There are rare exceptions of people who excel at controllers, and of course tons of people who suck at either kind of controls, that doesn't change the fact that keyboard/mouse is superior for aiming in every imaginable way. I'm done editing now. This post has been edited by haslo: Feb 27 2010, 01:30 PM -------------------- |

No, that's not possible indeed
The other points I mentioned were mostly "it plays faster, smoother, less clunky, and looks better", in various different kinds of ways - some of which indeed require a fast-ish PC. But of course the console version will be perfectly playable as well This post has been edited by haslo: Feb 27 2010, 03:17 PM -------------------- |

Has - as far as I know, no jets - helicopters / UAV's only (which is fine by me) It plays similarly to 2142, and from the map i've seen there is more of a focus on urban combat, like the 2142 maps 'Fall of Berlin' or 'Port Valdez', which again is fine by me as these were my favourite maps. You can spawn on any squad member alive, no need for spawn beacons, which keeps the pace quite high and helps prevent your squad getting scattered. Things are switched round a little bit with the assault class getting the ammo resupply box, whilst the medic gets the heavy machine guns and medikit. Damage is handled in a Modern Warfare style, you can't see your hp but you slowly recover health on your own, so it's a question of not taking too much damage in a short space of time. Theres no prone unfortunately, only crouch, which is a bit of a shame. As long as there's no 'choke point of doom' a la Camp Gibraltar I'll be happy - the cries of 'Enemy Walker Spotted' as i'm running up the main highway to the first flag haunt me to this day.

played the sp missions a bit today and so far its really good, its very similiar to the new cod graphic wise but you have the ability to demolish everything like in crysis which greatly adds to realism .
